Ship Repair Support for NSW Ports

Grana Works Pty Ltd supports ship owners, managers and agents with repair, cleaning and husbandry work while a vessel is in port. We are based in Sydney, work at Port Botany and Botany Bay, Port Kembla and Newcastle, and are willing to travel. We take the enquiry, plan the work around your berth and sailing window, and organise and manage it, including through trusted specialist partners where a job needs them. You deal with one person from the first message to handover.

Ship husbandry support in Sydney and the other NSW ports is usually a mix of small, time-sensitive jobs: a steel repair before sailing, a deck or hatch cover wash, a hull or tank clean in dock, or extra hands on the wharf. We put those into one plan and one quote, so you are not coordinating several contractors.

Marine Services

  • Marine welding and fabrication support. Marine welding in Sydney and the NSW ports, and marine fabrication for steel repairs, brackets, handrails, guards, fittings and fabricated parts. Work is made in a workshop or welded on the vessel or wharf, to the drawings or repair list you provide, with hot work planned around the permits your vessel and port require.
  • High-pressure and UHP water jetting. UHP water jetting for ships, and high-pressure washing, to clean decks, hatch covers, steelwork, deck machinery and equipment where the job and the vessel’s rules allow it.
  • Hull and tank cleaning support. Hull and tank cleaning support in NSW: high-pressure cleaning of hulls that are out of the water, for example on a slip or in dock, and cleaning support in tank spaces where the vessel provides the entry, gas-free and permit arrangements.
  • Wharf, deck and vessel washdown. Deck, superstructure and hatch cover washdowns, plus wharf apron and mooring-area cleaning. Wash water, oily residue and waste are captured and handled to the requirements of the port or terminal and to environmental law.
  • Logistics support. Labour for loading, handling and clean-up, and help coordinating the delivery of parts, materials and equipment to the berth. Lifting and transport that need specialist equipment are arranged separately.

Gaurav holds personal tickets for ultra high-pressure (UHP) water jetting, forklift, boom lift, dogging and rigging, along with an HR (heavy rigid) licence and crane inspection. These are his own personal tickets, not company-held.

For Ship Agents and Managers

Agents and managers need a fast answer, a clear scope and one name to deal with. Here is how an enquiry works.

  • 1. Send the details – vessel name, port, berth or anchorage, dates and the scope of work, by WhatsApp or email. Photos, drawings and a repair list help.
  • 2. We check the job – access, port or terminal rules, inductions, waste handling and the working window.
  • 3. Plan and quote – you get a reply with a plan and a quote covering scope, crew, equipment and timing.
  • 4. Schedule – work is booked around berthing windows, tides and port movements.
  • 5. Delivery and handover – managed by Grana Works with one point of contact, then photos and handover on completion.

If your site needs specific documents or credentials, tell us when you request a quote and we will confirm what we can provide before you commit. A marine schedule of rates is available on request.

What Is and Is Not Included

Grana Works organises and manages the work, including through trusted specialist partners where a job needs them. The services above are the standard scope. In-water or diver hull cleaning, abrasive blasting, fuel, cargo or sewage tank cleaning, and welding to a classification society’s requirements are not part of it. If your job includes any of these, say so when you enquire and we will confirm what can be arranged and quote it separately.

What Affects the Price

We do not publish prices. Each job is quoted after we review the vessel, port and scope.

  • Vessel size, number of areas and type of work
  • Type of contamination (oil, cargo residue, marine growth, general grime)
  • Access, berth or terminal inductions and permits
  • Waste volumes, and how waste must be captured and disposed of
  • Working windows: berthing time, tides, sailing date, after-hours
  • Equipment, materials and specialist partners needed
  • Travel and accommodation if the vessel is outside Sydney
